Lee Sieng Kai uses the Geokon Model A-9 Retrievable Extensometer in a new analysis technique, the GloStrExt method (to measure strains along concrete piles during static load tests). The Model A-9 eliminates the need to install tell-tale rods or strain gages and can be used again in future tests. The Model A-9 saves time and money—and keeps Lee smiling!

The GloStrExt method has recently been introduced for bored pile load tests. This new technique provides an innovative and improved alternative for conventional bored pile instrumentation methods commonly practiced for the past few decades. There are several advantages of this novel technique and results have shown a high correlation between the GloStrExt method and conventional instrumentation.
