Geotechnical Engineer

    GEOKON, INCORPORATED, The World Leader in Vibrating Wire Technology®, is a manufacturer of sensors and instrumentation used in civil, mining and structural engineering projects throughout the world.

    We are currently seeking an Geotechnical Engineer to support our customers in technically related matters. This is a full-time position that will manage a team of technicians and engineers and will include some domestic and international travel.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Handle customer questions related to instrument selection, data analysis, troubleshooting etc.
    • Co-ordinate Field Service activities, including training of GEOKON personnel to perform same
    • Co-ordinate on-site and in-house customer training programs
    • Manage the Technical Services Group who are responsible for all aspects related to data acquisition systems, programming, communications, and peripheral devices
    • Train the Technical Services Group in aspects related to instrument applications, installations and data reduction
    • Co-ordinate proposals/responses for “special projects” which may include 3rd party product and or installation and support services
    • Manage the Repair Department and track customer complaints to identify any trends

    Education/Credentials:

    • Minimum 5 years direct geotechnical engineering experience
    • A BSCE is required, MS preferred

    Experience:

    • Familiarity will multiple aspects of geotechnical engineering
    • Pile design and pile testing
    • Slope stability analysis
    • Groundwater hydrology
    • Understanding and design of geosynthetic material
    • Understanding and use of various field instrumentation
    • Strong geology skills
    • Soil and concrete testing procedures and construction testing methodologies

    Other Requirements:

    • Must possess excellent writing capabilities and the skill to write clear, concise technically correct geotechnical documents with strong attention to detail
    • Must have strong interpersonal and leadership skills and oral communication skills
    • Ability to exercise a high degree of independent judgment and professionalism
    • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to manage projects and budgets
    • Must be able to write proposals and geotechnical documents
    • Must be a team player, who has the patience and skill to train and mentor other geotechnical staff
    • Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific work and technical journals
    • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook software
    • Must have ability to respond to questions and criticisms from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
    • Must be willing and have the ability to travel and work in remote areas under adverse conditions
