VDV Data Visualization Software

New, Version 3.4 Now Available

A new version of VDV (version 3.4) has been released following the request of system operators running datalogging systems with a large number of measurement points and/or requesting a superior form and style of data handling.

New features include:

  • New powerful graph setup that will allow customized look of any graph, including a full set of tools to modify graphs as needed.
  • The ability to decide the order in which variable names are displayed, to choose colors, line width, points, columns, background color, timestamp format etc.
  • The order of graphs within a page can now be altered by simply dragging the graphs around during setup.
  • The Y-scale can be inverted.
  • Individual graphs can be copied and pasted or moved into other pages.
  • Graph display. When enlarged, user can use check-boxes to turn individual lines off and on, to simplify reading graphs with interleaving data.
  • Virtual variables: A full set of calculations is now available, including trigonometry, log and exponential functions.
  • A new set of “units” has been included to better meet the needs of the geotechnical industry
  • Web Map is a very powerful tool to display a large number of measurements on a picture (or map) background, complete with built in alarms.
  • If the variable is in an alarm zone – the background of that variable turns yellow or red and a sound is indicated.
  • A “Snapshot” feature in db.data.browser can save a png image of current graphs, which is useful for reports.
  • Web-based users (with admin rights) can now maintain access control of their staff, create users and delete users.
  • Configuration of alarms, alarm limits and updates times for file update notification can be maintained from an integrated web page.
  • Alarm information such as email addresses and cell phone numbers of staff members can be modified on the web.
  • Depending upon access rights, web based users can acknowledge alarm state of the entire system (or part of – depending on level of access), add information text to the alarm and browse the system log for any information related to any variable or any site.
