Model GK-404 Vibrating Wire ReadoutThe Model GK-404 Vibrating Wire (VW) Readout Box is a portable, low-power, hand-held device designed for the readout of all Geokon VW geotechnical instruments. The GK-404 provides six excitation positions (A-F) that electronically “pluck” the wire for specific operating frequency ranges. Each position, or Display Mode, has different programmed parameters that are optimized, with different scaling and processing characteristics, for various VW instruments. The GK-404 is particularly useful for instrumentation set-up and testing prior to installing more complex monitoring systems (e.g. dataloggers, etc.), and is easily operated with one hand. The GK-404 is capable of displaying readings in digits, frequency, period, or microstrain in the case of VW strain gages, with a reading resolution of 0.1 digit. The GK-404 also displays the temperature of the transducer with a resolution of 0.1°C. Power is provided by two AA batteries capable of running the GK-404 for more than 20 hours continuously, and features include automatic power-off and a battery monitor with low-battery warning. The unit has a sealed enclosure, with membrane keypad, allowing operation in all weather conditions. For more information, contact: GeokonNews@geokon.com or call: 1.603.448.1562 |
