  • Sales Manager

    GEOKON is a manufacturer of sensors and instrumentation used in civil, mining and structural engineering projects throughout the world.

    We are seeking a seasoned, hardworking, and overachieving Sales Manager with proven experience and a passion for selling quality, innovative and reliable instrumentation and providing outstanding customer service. This position is responsible for leading a seasoned group of Sales Engineers and Associates. Measures of success include new customer acquisition rates, renewals and closure rates, and contribution to overall team and business success.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    1. Sales and Execution
      • Provide oversight and guidance in the sales support of customers and/or new opportunities. This includes planning and organizing sales team schedules to ensure effective coverage and timely response.
      • Maintain ongoing relationships with key customers, worldwide agents and regional offices.
      • Establish and provide regular metrics on team performance and open opportunities.
      • Create an efficient and successful means of tracking and closing projects.
      • Identify and communicate new product/sales opportunities by analyzing cost-benefit ratios of product or service applications; proposes changes in products or materials based on customer or project requirements.
      • Provide support in the management and delivery of customer demonstrations, off site “Lunch & Learns,” and in-house trainings to current and potential customers as required.
      • In collaboration with marketing and key sales associates, identify applicable trade shows/conferences and aid in the selection of GEOKON attendees, including self.
      • Solicit and identify projects for case histories and other marketing/promotional use.
      • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing professional networks; participating in professional societies (Civil, Geotechnical, etc.).
      • Maintain ERP and CRM software platforms; ensuring collection of customer, order and ongoing customer relationship data. Tracks usage and compliance of sales team in utilizing and recording customer data.
      • Meet with customers to discuss their evolving needs and to assess the quality and ability of our company’s relationship with them.
      • Work with marketing members in the identification and creation of new sales tools to effectively target new customers and/or industries.
    2. Leadership and Employee Development
      • Provide daily support and guidance to sales members in the areas of customer interaction, quoting and order generation.
      • Act as the liaison between the team and the rest of the organization when issues arise that require escalation.
      • Establish team goals and track ongoing progress against them.
      • Motivate sales team and conduct periodic team building exercises.
      • Monitor sales team workload and adjust accordingly.
      • Provide political, technical and pricing support to sales team.
      • Maintain an effective travel schedule for the sales team.
      • Assess the strengths and weaknesses of the sales team and manage the sales program accordingly.
      • Work with human resources to maintain sales staff by recruiting, selecting and training employees.
    3. Sales Planning
      • Provide support in the identification of new metrics to implement and evaluate, new markets to target, establish and adjust selling prices by monitoring costs, competition, and supply and demand.
      • Contribute to sales engineering effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that need to be addressed; providing information and recommending options and courses of action; and implement directives where applicable.
    4. Standards and Procedures
      • Ensure and enforce the adherence to all procedures, policies and process by department employees.
      • Prepare and generate required documentation.
      • Ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety rules, regulations and procedures.
      • Ensure all documentation necessary for regulatory compliance is completed accurately.
      • Monitor workplace safety and work with others to minimize and eliminate safety risks and obstacles.
      • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
      • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
    5. Other Duties and Responsibilities
      • Enthusiasm for achieving organizational goals of a growing company.
      • Perform related duties as assigned by Manager.

    Education/Credentials:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field is required (or equivalent work experience).

    Skills/Qualifications:

    • Minimum 4+ years in Sales Leadership position.
    • Construction, Geotechnical, Civil Engineering or Mining application experience preferred.
    • Instrumentation or Sensor experience.
    • Managing and interpreting customer requirements and project applications.
    • Negotiating skills.
    • A strong technical background.
    • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Multi-National cultural awareness.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft® Word™, Excel®, Outlook® and PowerPoint® software.
    • Product knowledge.
    • Presentation skills.
    • Experience with CRM and ERP software.
    • Team leadership and supervisorial experience.

    Other Requirements:

    • Strong interest in Sales and Business Development.
    • Fluent English language required. Foreign language skills are preferred.
    • Sound judgement and good business sense.
    • Ability to travel nationally and internationally.
    • Resiliency and ability to multi-task.
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
