Assembly Supervisor

  • GEOKON is a manufacturer of sensors and instrumentation used in civil, mining and structural engineering projects throughout the world.

    We are seeking an Assembly Supervisor, who at the direction of the Production Manager, will contribute to the success of GEOKON by providing supervision and oversight of the mechanical and gauge assembly areas to ensure that customer requirements are met. Will plan and assign work, implement policies and procedures and recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. This is a full-time exempt position working Monday through Friday with flexible hours between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    1. Planning and Production Scheduling
      • Reviewing and maintaining the sales orders to ensure shipment schedule is being met by reviewing the performance of the Assistant Supervisors
      • Manage the planning and establishing work schedules, assignments, and production processes to meet the production schedule
      • Oversees that all assemblies are manufactured to meet the required delivery or production dates; notifies Supervisor and others required of any delays
      • Manage staffing requirements by creating and monitoring a capacity plan
    2. Production and Execution
      • Manage the monitoring and enforcing quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives, ensure that parts are being made according to the correct procedure, including ISO
      • Work with the Assistant Supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments and to create solutions to complex problems
      • Responsible for meeting production metrics and sharing information within the department on status of metrics and if any changes need to be made to meet metric
      • Responsible for maintenance and PM process within the department
      • Improve manufacturing efficiencies, material flows and reduce waste
      • Work with the MPE to develop best practices to ensure smooth production flow to meet business demands
      • Ensuring production downtime is kept to a minimum
      • Compile/monitor/analyze information from ERP/MRP system, timesheets and production reports to ensures that the team’s overall quality levels and on-time delivery schedules are maintained
      • Collect data and compile reports about production
      • Maintain customer satisfaction by investigating customer complaints, implementing corrective action, and communicating within the team
    3. Leadership and Employee Development
      • Supervise, coach, and motivate department employees and Assistant Supervisors
      • Coordinate and/or conduct employee training in equipment operations and work procedures to ensure that all work is performed correctly and efficiently
      • Review the performance and evaluation of department employees
      • Execution of personnel with actions with HR, such as hiring, evaluations, promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations
      • Work with HR and the Assistant Supervisor to resolve employee issue, complaints, or grievances
      • Work with the Assistant Supervisor to conduct team meetings and as the conduit for company communications to all department employees
      • Provide necessary resources for training of Assistant Supervisors and employees
    4. Standards and Procedures
      • Ensure and enforce the adherence to all procedures, policies and process by department employees
      • Prepare and generate required documentation
      • Ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety rules, regulations and procedures
      • Ensures all documentation necessary for regulatory compliance is completed accurately
      • Monitor workplace safety and work with others to minimize and eliminate safety risks and obstacles
      • Will work with Quality to ensure that production team and equipment are fully compliant and up-to-date with training records
      • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
      • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
    5. Other Duties and Responsibilities
      • Perform assembly tasks as required
      • Perform related duties as assigned by Director

    Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent with 5 or more years of Assembly/Production Supervision Experience is required
    • Associate’s Degree (in management and/or Technical Certificate) preferred

    Other Requirements:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
    • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office: Microsoft® Word™, Excel®, and Outlook® software)
    • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
    • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
    • Ability to read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs
    • Ability to interpret specifications, schematics, job orders, and company policies and procedures for employees
    • Ability to inspect materials, products, and/or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions
    • Mechanically inclined individual with excellent attention to detail
    • Excellent analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, time management and documentation skills
    • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
    • Ability to multi-task and must be organized
    • Must be familiar with manufacturing processes
    • Familiarity with ERP/MRP Software is required
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States
