  • CAD Designer

    GEOKON is a manufacturer of sensors and instrumentation used in civil, mining and structural engineering projects throughout the world.

    We are currently seeking a CAD Designer who, at the direction of the Mechanical Engineering Manager, will produce detailed SolidWorks® models and drawings for all GEOKON products. Additionally, the CAD Designer is responsible for maintaining the corporate CAD Database. To perform these functions, the CAD Designer must have a good grasp of mechanical assembly and product design. This is a full- time position working Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    1. Engineering:
      • Create and maintain SolidWorks CAD design documentation as necessary, including 3D models, drawings and assemblies
      • Organize and maintain all SolidWorks 3D data, including models, file management, modeling/drafting standards, templates and formats, revisions and obsolescence
      • Utilize best practice approaches to modeling, drafting and design
      • Update CAD documentation as necessary to complete Engineering Changes
      • Convert hand drawn prints to electronic CAD formats: drawings, models, assemblies
      • Convert AutoCAD prints to SolidWorks platform
      • Assist with new product development, as necessary
    2. Custom Products/"X" jobs:
      • Configure standard products and produce associated, detailed CAD drawings according to customer requirements, using information provided from sales orders, product worksheets, verbal instructions, sketches, email, or other communication methods from internal and/or external sources
      • Utilize mechanical knowledge, product knowledge, engineering best practices, mathematics, and materials knowledge to perform tasks as necessary
      • Maintain appropriate documentation and records for each job, including drawings and BOMs
    3. Sales Support:
      • Create prints and sketches for quoting and informational purposes
    4. Customer Support:
      • Directly and indirectly assist with customer questions and problems
    5. Production Support:
      • Create drawings for assembly instructions and/or assembly fixtures/equipment, if necessary
      • Answer questions and troubleshoot problems in production
      • Support purchasing, as necessary

    Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

    • Associate’s Degree
    • 1-3 years Mechanical Design/CAD Design

    Other Requirements:

    • Excellent, expert-level CAD skills, preferably in SolidWorks
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Strong technical aptitude, particularly in the mechanical field
    • Excellent team player with the ability to work well across functional areas
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
    • Excellent computer proficiency (Microsoft® Word™, Excel® and Outlook® software)
    • Must be able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
    • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States
