  • GEOKON (est. 1979) is a manufacturer of sensors and instrumentation used in civil, mining and structural engineering projects throughout the world.

    We are currently seeking a Lead Assembler. This is a hands-on working lead position within the Mechanical Assembly department. You will assist the Production Manager with various tasks related to the supervision and coordination of Assembly. You will assist in maintaining a structured work environment that benefits both the employees and customers, ensuring efficiency and productivity. Acts as a liaison between the Manager and other staff, ensuring that procedures are being followed, while also suggesting ideas for streamlining processes. This is a full-time position.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    • Planning and Production Scheduling:
      • Review and maintain sales orders to ensure shipment schedule is being met by distributing work orders to the appropriate assemblers and technicians
      • Execute the planning and establish work schedules, assignments, and production processes to meet the production schedule
      • Ensure that all assemblies are manufactured to meet the required delivery or production dates; notifies Manager and others required of any delays
      • Review availability of parts and materials for job orders in the coming weeks. Notifies appropriate departments, as needed, of potential shortages
    • Production and Execution:
      • Assist in monitoring and enforcing quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives, ensure that parts are being made according to the correct procedure, including ISO
      • Works with their Manager to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments and to create solutions to complex problems
      • Recommend and/or implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and/or efficiency
      • Assists the Manager in preparing and generating required production documentation
    • Leadership and Employee Development:
      • Assist in supervising, coaching, and motivating department employees
      • Assist in the coordination and conduct employee training in equipment operations and work procedures to ensure that all work is performed correctly and efficiently
      • Assist with the review of performance and evaluation of department employees with department supervisor
      • Assist the department supervisor and Human Resources in the execution of personnel actions, such as hiring, evaluations, promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations
      • Work with department supervisor and Human Resources to resolve employee issues, complaints, or grievances
      • Work with the department supervisor to conduct team meetings and act as the conduits for company communications to all department employees
      • Assist the department supervisor to coordinate resources to allow for training and continuous work while meeting production requirements
    • Continuous Improvement:
      • Proactively identify and participate in process improvement activities to promote continuous improvement
      • Leads and implements small-scale continuous improvement projects
      • Supports other facility related projects and initiatives as assigned
      • Working with the Documentation Specialist, MPE, Technicians and others, assists with the development and writing of assembly instructions and new work processes
    • Standards and Procedures:
      • Ensure that standard operating procedures and processes are adhered to
      • Enforce and adhere to all Procedures, Policies and Processes at all times
      • Ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety rules, regulations, and procedures
      • Monitor workplace safety and work with others to minimize and eliminate safety risks and obstacles
      • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
      • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards
    • Other Duties and Responsibilities:
      • Perform assembly tasks as required
      • Perform related duties as assigned by Supervisor

    Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent with 3-5 years of Work Experience required
    • Associates Degree in Management and/or Technical Certificate with 1-3 years of Work Experience preferred

    Other Requirements:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal customers
    • Excellent computer proficiency (Microsoft® Word™, Excel®, Outlook® and Teams®)
    • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude
    • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
    • Ability to read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs
    • Ability to interpret specifications, schematics, job orders, and company policies and procedures for employees
    • Ability to inspect materials, products, and/or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions
    • Mechanically inclined individual with excellent attention to detail
    • Excellent analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, time management and documentation skills
    • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
    • Ability to multi-task and must be organized
    • Must be familiar with manufacturing processes
    • Familiarity with ERP/MRP Software is required
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States
