  • GEOKON is a manufacturer of sensors and instrumentation used in civil, mining and structural engineering projects throughout the world.

    We are currently seeking a Machinist to join our 100% employee-owned company!

    Reporting directly to the Machine Shop Supervisor, the Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating conventional, special purpose, numerical control (NC) and machining centers to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    • Reads blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions of finish parts to determine sequence of operation and set up requirements
    • Measures, marks, and scribes’ dimensions and reference points on material as guides for subsequent machining
    • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig bores, and grinders
    • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speeds, feeds, coolant flows, and depth of cuts
    • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine or controls as needed
    • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications
    • Sets up and operates machine on trial runs to verify accuracy of machine settings and/or programs
    • Fits and assembles parts into complete assemblies
    • Develops specifications from general descriptions and draws sketches of parts to be fabricated
    • Confers with Engineers, production personnel, draftsmen or others involved in resolving machining or assembly problems

    Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • 3+ years of machine tool operating experience
    • Working knowledge and experience using metrology equipment
    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with speeds and feeds, changing tools and work holdings, making offsets, reading blueprints, etc.

    Other Requirements:

    • Excellent verbal skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal personnel
    • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude
    • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
    • Perform other related duties as assigned
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States
