  • Sales Engineer

    GEOKON is a manufacturer of sensors and instrumentation used in civil, mining and structural engineering projects throughout the world.

    We are seeking a seasoned, hardworking, and overachieving Sales Engineer with proven experience and a passion for selling quality, innovative and reliable Geotechnical Instrumentation and providing outstanding customer service. You will be responsible for selling and servicing new prospects as well as current customers to ensure high renewal and customer satisfaction levels. Measures of success include new customer acquisition rates, renewal rates, cross-selling, and contribution to overall sales team and business success.

    Reporting to the Sales Manager, the Sales Engineer will provide sales and technical support to customers on all aspects of our products.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Identifies current and future customer requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and current customers and other persons in a position to understand requirements. Provides product and technical engineering information by answering questions and requests.
    • Establishes new accounts by identifying potential customers; planning and organizing sales call schedule.
    • Prepares quotes by studying plans and related customer documents; consulting with engineers and other professional and technical personnel.
    • Determines improvements by analyzing cost-benefit ratios of product or service applications; engineering or proposing changes in products or materials based on customer or project requirements.
    • Submits orders by conferring with technical support staff or colleagues.
    • Develops customers by providing technical information and training.
    • Providing after-sales customer service and support.
    • Following up on quotations and projects in a timely manner.
    • Record and maintain customer contact data.
    • Liaising with other members of the sales team, engineering team and technical support team.
    • Participation at trade shows and conferences.
    • Conducting demonstrations, lunch and learns, and presentations to current and potential customers.
    • Providing training and assisting in the production of support material for customers and other members of the company.
    • Field Assistance as required.
    • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
    • Contributes to sales engineering effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing information and recommending options and courses of action; implementing directives.
    • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Education/Credentials:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Business or equivalent work experience

    Skills/Qualifications:

    • Geotechnical Instrumentation or sensor experience preferred
    • Geotechnical, Mining or Construction application experience preferred
    • Managing and interpreting customer requirements and project applications
    • Negotiating skills
    • A strong technical background
    • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
    • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft® Word™, Excel®, Outlook®, and PowerPoint® software
    • Product knowledge
    • Presentation skills

    Other Requirements:

    • Strong interest in Sales and Business Development
    • Ability to travel
    • Fluent English language required
    • Fluent Spanish language/speaking preferred—Foreign language skills are in demand
    • Sound judgement and good business sense
    • Teamwork ability
    • Resilience and tenacity, ability to multi-task
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States
