  • Technical Services Technician

    GEOKON is a manufacturer of sensors and instrumentation used in civil, mining and structural engineering projects throughout the world.

    We are currently seeking a Technical Services Technician, who at the direction of the Technical Services Customer Support Manager, will contribute to the success of GEOKON by providing exceptional technical support and acting as a liaison between the customer and GEOKON sales staff. This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    1. Technical Support (Internal & External)
      • Troubleshoot and answer technical questions related to:
        • Geotechnical instrumentation
        • Data acquisition systems
        • Readout instruments
        • Software applications published by GEOKON
        • 3rd party software applications sold by GEOKON
      • Ensure a quick response time to problem resolution
      • Establish good working relationships with our customer base as well as with our internal customers
      • Promote a positive company image when speaking to customers and other GEOKON employees
      • Provide estimated cost calculations for custom products and software
      • Provide conceptual designs for custom products
      • Provide estimated cost calculations for custom products and software
      • Provide designs and create solutions
    2. Other
      • Assist Engineering Departments with product and software development and improvements by testing and evaluating existing and new product designs
      • Setup and use electronic test equipment to record, compile and analyze data for evaluation
      • Assemble, test, and troubleshoot standard and modified data acquisition systems and complex electromechanical systems, and draft assembly documents, test procedures and product manuals where necessary
      • Prepare formal documentation for special jobs Type C product, X jobs, per SOP-DESIGN requirements
      • Use ERP software to setup bill of materials and routings
      • Work with Mechanical Engineering Department to develop drawings for special parts related to specific job requirements
      • Programming of CSI dataloggers using LoggerNet to create (and edit) data logger start programs
      • Setup Vista Data Vision (VDV) for customers and provide support
      • Assist and train other functional areas such as Production Assembly, Quality, Repair, etc. as required
      • Field Services: assist with installation, training and troubleshooting as required

    Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

    • Associate degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, preferred
    • 3-5 years of technical services/support experience required

    Other Requirements:

    • Must be familiar with manufacturing processes, use of electronic test equipment, evaluate mechanical prints and tolerances, sketching, layout and drafting work
    • Familiar with basic programming
    • Proficiency with Windows®-based Operating System and Microsoft Office Software (Microsoft® Word™, Excel®, Outlook® and Teams® software)
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
    • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
    • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
    • Ability to work well with other employees and willingness to switch tasks frequently when required
    • A Passport or the ability to obtain a Passport and travel Internationally for Field Services
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States
