  • Quality Assurance Manager

    GEOKON is a manufacturer of sensors and instrumentation used in civil, mining and structural engineering projects throughout the world.

    We are currently seeking a Quality Assurance Manager who at the direction of the Director, will contribute to the success of GEOKON by providing leadership, motivation, and direction to the Quality Assurance department and the Calibration department. The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating and directing the Quality Management System (QMS)in compliance with the ISO 9001 standard. They will ensure product and process conformance with Geokon quality standards while leading continuous improvement activities. This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday with flexible hours between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    1. Quality Management System (QMS)
      • Takes primary responsibility for maintenance and improvement of the QMS including ISO 9001 and Internal Audit Program
      • Coordinates root cause analysis and response to customer complaints, internal product or process nonconformance and audit findings
      • Ensures Corrective and Preventive Action implementation for customer complaints, non-conformances and audit findings
      • Manage measurement and test equipment calibration program
      • Drive an effective Management Review process to ensure the suitability and effectiveness of QMS
      • Plan and lead quality awareness training for Senior Management, Managers, Supervisors and employees as needed
      • Direct interface for customer and compliance audits
      • Generate reports and participate in monthly and annual management review meetings
      • Interface with customers and regulatory bodies on the QMS and audits
      • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
    2. Leadership and Employee Development
      • Supervise, coach, and motivate department(s) employees and Supervisors
      • Coordinate and/or conduct employee training
      • Review the performance and evaluation of department(s) employees
      • Execution of personnel with actions with HR, such as hiring, evaluations, promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations
      • Supervise employees in Document Control, PCB Lab, QA Lab, and Calibration Department
      • Conduct team meetings and act as the conduit for company communications to all department employees
    3. Supplier Quality
      • Develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive supplier quality management process to ensure acceptable quality and cost of purchased materials, components and/or services
      • Provide subject matter support in the selection, approval and sustaining of suppliers, including but not limited to initial evaluation and quality/process audits
      • Monitor supplier quality performance to identify opportunities for improvement and coordinate the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives at suppliers/contract manufacturers
      • Facilitate the deployment of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) in response to internal quality issues as well as customer complaints through the coordination of cross-functional teams
    4. Process Quality and Calibration
      • Participate in New Product introduction projects as the team’s quality and calibration representative to ensure production readiness is achieved
      • Support Manufacturing Operations and Calibration by acquiring and analyzing data through multiple sources (audit program, Statistical Process Control techniques, product quality performance metrics, and customer complaints), identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, facilitating problem resolution (root cause analysis, corrective action) across teams, and proactively developing/deploying preventive measures in support of a lean manufacturing environment that ultimately minimizes non-value activities
      • Defines capital project needs for department(s) needs and ensures budget requirement is met
      • Author quality plans and policies, operational procedures, test and inspection programs and assembly / work instructions
      • Participate in the engineering change request / order process
    5. Other Duties and Responsibilities
      • Perform assembly tasks as required
      • Perform related duties as assigned by Director

    Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

    • Associate degree in degree in a technical field or Mechanical Engineering, preferred
    • 5-7 years of Quality management experience required

    Other Requirements:

    • Excellent technical communication skills (written and verbal)
    • Excellent computer proficiency (Microsoft® Word™, Excel®, PowerPoint® and Outlook® software, etc.)
    • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
    • Excellent analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, time management and documentation skills
    • Familiarity with ERP/MRP Software required
    • Ability to multi-task and must be organized
    • Experience and working knowledge in Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
    • Working knowledge of ISO9001/TS16949 framework, including Design and Process FMEA, PPAP, and Control Plan
    • Proficient in Quality processes (First Article Inspection, NCM management, MRB facilitation) and problem-solving techniques/tools (SCAR, Global 8D, DMAIC)
    • Experience operating in a Lean manufacturing environment and associated techniques/tools (cell manufacturing, standard work, 5S)
    • Presentation and project management skills
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States

    Preferred Experience:

    • ASQ certification (CMQ/OE, CQE, CQA, CSSBB)
    • Six Sigma certification(s)
    • Experience with ISO17025
